  • Working with knit & Woven fabrics

  • Learning to lengthen and shorten

  • Creating waistbands, facings, hems

  • Various hem types & construction of these

Patternmaking Classes 

About the Teacher​​

  • Fully qualified – from UTS (Fashion & Textiles), also holds a certificate IV 40110 in training and assessment

  • Industry trained and has been in the industry for over 25 years

  • Experience in teaching – teaches at Billy Blue, Raffles, UTS and Ultimo TAFE

  • Past experience includes manual & CAD patternmaking for Zimmermann, Fred Bare, Table 8, Aztec Rose and many more.​

  • Adding design lines


WEEK 2

  • Tracing off pattern pieces

  • Adding seam allowances, grain lines, etc

  • Adding notches, balance points

  • Checking your 'jigsaw' puzzle fits back together

WEEK 3

  • Understanding panel lines
  • Creating a new shape using panel lines
  • Discuss & Construct various pocket types
  • Extracting pattern pieces​
  • Finalising your 'jigsaw' puzzle


WEEK 4

  • Learning about different types of pleating
  • Constructing a pleated garment​
  • Creating gathering & fullness​


WEEK 5

  • Slash & spread method
  • Constructing an A-line skirt
  • How to make a skater skirt
